Week18 Singles & Presentations

Darren Gale was crowned King of the Crawley Summer League last Friday as he ended the season on an high, by taking the coveted Singles title at Three Bridges FC.

The Conservative Club ace, had earlier, ended the hopes of  Del Furminger, Rob Metcalfe, Tony Arnold and in the Semis Gary Newman..    In the Final he faced Pelhams Andy MacIntosh.

MacIntosh saw off the challenges from Larry Kavanah, Andy Gurr, Ray Miller, then Mike Morley in the Semis, hitting a fine 128 finish to book his place in the Final…

The Final was an high scoring encounter, Gale took the opening leg, only for MacIntosh to draw level, winning the second.     Gale’s bigger scoring shots told in the deciding leg, as he went on to take the title..

On the night , six 180′s were hit, Mike Morley grabbed a brace, while young Tommy Sykes, Del Furminger, Ant Morley & Gary Newman hit one apeice.     Bridges Tommy Walker hit a 110 finish during his defeat to Andy Gurr..

The Presentations, saw the Pelhams crowned Summer League Champions, with last years Champions Charcoal Burner coming second..    Warren Grantham took the most 180′s award with six, while Ernie Potter’s great 170 checkout in week 1, took the highest finish award…

Week: 17


   Terry Britt

    The Final week of League action, saw most teams playing for pride, as the top three teams all received byes, and had already sewn up the main places.

    RS Bumbles thumped Pease Pottage FC 8-0, to finish in fourth, while the Rebels, helped by a 120 finish from Paul Trivass overpowered BBC 7-1 to make the top five.     Terry Britt [ pictured ] and Graham Martin, were both on form for Longley C, both players hitting maximums in a 6-2 win over Labour Lofty’s to finish sixth, just ahead of Bridges who lost out to Lisa’s Rentboys 6-2..

   Three Bridges A made the top ten, following their 8-0 whitewash of the bottom side Heathy Farmers.    Guns & Roses v Chicks & Dicks was a late result in…

   Next Friday, the League are staging their Singles Competition, followed by the Presentations, at Three Bridges FC.          Play will commence at 8-00pm…

Week 16:


   John Usher

     Just one more week left of League ganes after this weeks fixtures.     The Top three places have now been decided after Fridays matches.    Pelhams were already crowned Champions a few weeks back, and duly completed their season unbeaten following a 5-3 win over fourth placed RS Bumbles, Kez Botting [145], and Gary Newman [115] hit big finishes for the Pelhams, but the Bee’s did earn a point, by taking the team game..

    The Former Champions, Charcoal Burner just edged out the Conservative Club for the runner up spot.     Both sides finished level on points after posting 8-0 wins over Heathy Farmers, and BBC respectably, but the Burner had a superior match wins record.    Mick Clarke’s fine 111 finish proved scant consolation for the Blues…

     Player of the week must be Longley’s John Usher [ pictured ], for he struck a brace of 180′s to help his side to all 3pts in the 5-3 beating of the Guns & Roses.    Ernie Potter for Longley’s, and the Roses Rob Metcalfe both posted 100 outshots..    Paul Trivass hit his fourth maximum of the season to help the Rebels defeated Pease Pottage F.C.

    Both Bridges & Three Bridges A took all 3pts during their 5-3 victories over Labour Lofty’s and the Chicks & Dicks, for whom young Owen Grantham shot a 180…

Week 15:


        Kez Botting

     The newly crowned Summer League Champions, Pelhams,  notched their twelveth victory of the season, when beating the Rebels 5-3, helped by a fine 160 checkout from Kez Botting [ pictured ], the Champions edged out a spirited Rebels outfit, who did inflicted the first reversal in the 1001 team game on the Pelhams..

     The Charcoal Burner took advantage of second placed Conservative Club’s bye to move above them, following a 7-1 victory over the Chicks & Dicks, Del Furminger was on target for the former Champions, hitting a maximum..     RS Bumbles beat Lisa’s RentBoys 5-3 to stay in contention for a second placed finish..

    Guns & Roses drew 4-4 with Bridges, but took the team game bonus point, while Longley C took all three points when beating Three Bridges A 5-3,  and finally Pease Pottage F.C. posted their second win of the season, when defeating BBC 5-3, although the latter earned a point by taking the 1001 team game…

Week: 14

       The Pelhams were crowned CRAWLEY SUMMER LEAGUE Champions following week 14′s games..     With three weeks of the season to go, no one can over haul the Pelhams, even if they lose both their remaining matches.   The main focus now, is aimed at who will take the runners up spot, with three sides in contention…

      New side Pease Pottage opened with a victory in the Trebles against the new Champions, but after that it was all one way traffic, as Pelhams won 7-1…  The battle for the second place, see’s the Conservative Club in pole position after beating Heathy Farmers 8-0, with Darren Gale’s 108 checkout the sole highlite, 3pts adrift of the Blues, are the Charcoal Burner, they posted a 7-1 victory over Longley C, but slipped up in the 1001 team game, Lee Gladman hit his fourth 180 of the season for the Burner, while Graham Martin replied with one for Longley’s .     RS Bumbles are still in the picture, but have to win all their three remaining games, one of which is against the newly crowned Champions, Mike Morley [pictured] was in good form for the Bee’s as they shot down Labour Lofty’s 8-0..

    Rebels move upto fifth, following their 5-3 win over Lisa’s Rent Boys, Paul Trivass [ pictured ] was the Rebels star man, hitting his third maximum of the campaign….   Bridges won the match up with their stable mates Three Bridges A, 6-2, despite Mick Southey hitting a 180, and 111 finish for the A’s…

Week 13:


           John Palmer

      No change at the top, as all the top three sides picked up the maximum 3pts available in their latest outings.    Leaders Pelhams, stay 4pts clear after beating lowly BBC 7-1, with John Palmer [ pictured] in great shape hitting a 180, and a 174 in his sides victory..

     Second placed Conservative Club, also had a 7-1 win, helped by Warren Granthams sixth maximum of the season, they overcame the Chicks & Dicks, while the reigning Champions, Charcoal Burner, beat Bridges 6-2 to remain 5pts adrift of the leaders, with three games remaining for most sides.

    RS Bumbles outside chance of the title, vanished, as they were held to a 4-4 draw with the Guns & Roses, they even lost out in the team 1001 game to rub salt into their wounds..    The Rebels beat Labour Lofty’s 6-2, taking all 3pts, as did Lisa’s Rent Boys who won 5-3 against Pease Pottage F.C.

Week 12:


      Ant Morley

       The League leaders Pelhams, took advantage of their game in hand on the reigning Champions Charcoal Burner, to move 5pts clear of them after beating Lisa’ Rent Boys 7-1, Paul Robinson’s 177 {t20, t20, t19] proving to be the games only highlite..
     The Conservative Club, also took advantage of the Burners bye, to jump above them into second place, 4pts adrift of the leaders.. Warren Grantham was in superb form for the Blues, hitting his fifth maximum, and checking out on a 112 shot, in their 6-2 beating of Longley C, for whom Colin Whiley bagged his second 180 of the season, the Blues did slip up in the 1001 team game though..
     Rebels were awarded a 8-0 walkover as Guns & Roses failed to show, while Ant Morley [ pictured ] was grabbing all the plaudits during the RS Bumbles 6-2 victory over Three Bridges A,  the Bee’s ace hit a 180, then followed it up with a 121 checkout, to lead the Bee’s to 3 valuable points in their search of the title.   Another player in great form, was young Mark Fluck of the Labour Lofty’s, for he hit a 180, and a 115 finish, to help the Reds beat Pease Pottage F.C. 7-1..   

   While in the clash of the bottom two, BBC recorded their first win of the season, when beating Heathy Farmers 5-3, although the Farmers did win the 1001 team game, to finally earn there first point of the campaign…

Week 11:


Warren Grantham

As the League moves into the final stretch of the run in, the Pelhams have a 2pt lead over the Charcoal Burner, following both teams victories this week.

Pelhams with a game in hand over their arch rivals, saw off the challenge from Labour Lofty’s comfortably 7-1, while the Burner facing a tougher task, ended the RS Bumbles unbeaten record, with a 5-3 victory, although they did drop a vital 1001 team bonus point to the Bee’s.

Warren Grantham [pictured]  hit his fourth 180, and Mick Clarke his third for the Conservative Club, as the Blues picked up all 3pts in a 6-2 victory over Bridges.

Guns and Roses responded well after last weeks 8-0 thrashing by the Pelhams, to also win 5-3 and gain all 3pts with victory over Pease Pottage.

Chris Clewer was in top form, hitting a maximum for Lisa’s Rentboys, as his side crushed BBC 8-0,  also on the wrong end of an heavy defeat, were Heathy Farmers, who crashed 7-1 to the Chicks & Dicks.

Week 10:

As predicted in Week 9′s report, the League has new leaders, after a night of big victories.

The Pelhams took advantage of the Conservative Clubs bye, to move above them following their 8-0 thrashing of the Guns & Roses, Gary Newman and Paul Robinson [pictured], were on top form, with both hitting 180′s for the jubilant Pelhams.

The Charcoal Burner, also move above the Blues, as maximums from Martin Burchell [pictured] and Del Furminger helped the reigning Champions comfortably beat the Rebels also 8-0, Paul Trivass was on target for the Rebels, hitting his first maximum of the season.

Although having byes, both the Conservative Club, and RS Bumbles stay in contention in third & fourth places respectably.

More big wins came for Longley C, who whitwashed Heathy Farmers 8-0, Lisa’s Rebels 7-1 beating of Labour Lofty’s,  with a further two 7-1 wins for Chicks & Dicks over BBC, and Three Bridges A at Pease Pottage S.C.
